Frequently Asked Questions
* What are the different types of pets here?
Canine, Feline, Mammals and Reptile and Birds, and more! There are a variety and more coming! Some of the 'lesser' types are the Commoncat, Commondog, and their 'Fluffy' side species. They do not have customizing, or markings available.
* Is everything 'real' art here? Is there digital or ai or rendered?
ALL pet art is 100% hand drawn art by various artists. Backgrounds, foregrounds and all items are a variety of digital, hand drawn, and rendered, as well as art brushes and patterns. We will NOT be using any of this for any pets, at any time.
* What ages is this game appropriate for?
You must be at least 13 years of age to join and play here, and that's pretty much the standard for most pet sites. We do NOT allow anything over a 'PG rating' and if you see anything that you feel is past that, please message the Admin and notify. We take that very seriously. Light cursing is allowed but absolutely nothing of a mature content is ever allowed. Please be mindful of that when you customize your profile. Keep it fun, clean, and safe for all of us!
* How do I adopt a pet?
Visit the 'Adopt' page from the main menu. Choose a pet type, name it, pick a gender, and it will be added to your collection. Be aware different pets have different prices, so be sure you have the necessary Simbucks for the purchase (hint, lots of SB can be earned simply by 'Boosting for Bucks'!
* Do you have currency, and how do I earn it?
We do! Simbucks is the currency of the Simpets System, which is the Framework this site operates on. You earn it by boosting ( Leveling ) up pets, selling pets, sparring, battles, quests and more. But don't worry, you'll note that you start with a cool 100,000 SB just for joining!
* What do boosts and levels do, and how do the pets grow?
Boosts and levels determine what a pet can do, and what they look like! You can just be patient and do slow boosting, or you can buy a potion to raise them up immediately - but be aware potions for this are expensive - you'll start at this time with 10 Matures, and that should do for a bit! The offspring will grow from Baby to Adult in a full six days!
Level 1 (0–9 boosts)
Level 2 (10–19)
Level 3 (20–34)
Level 4 (35–49) (Coming soon!)
Level 5 (50+) (Coming soon!)
* Why are there two different pet profiles?
There's actually three :) A Main private, and a Main public, as well as a Dressed up Profile, that shows your special Dressup items equipped on your pet! It would be far too cluttered to have everything show on one profile, so we divided it up! You'll still see your backgrounds and foregrounds on the Dressed up Profile, but your Companions and Buddies won't show (just on your Main).
* What are the Quests for?
Just for fun, but to win Simbucks and status too! There's a few to choose from, Mars Quest is a fun fantasy adventure to another planet, but there's plenty to choose from!
* What are Companions and Buddies?
They're considered 'real' company for your pet, as opposed to toys such as plushies, etc. They show up on your Main profiles, public and private.
* How do I equip toys, and decorations?
Visit your Inventory and choose the item. Use it on the pet you wish to, you will need to select it carefully, always ensure you have chosen the pet you really want to add it to!
* How many items can I equip?
You may have seven front slots filled, this would be toys, companions, plushes, etc. You may have one background at one time, and a total of six foregrounds at any one time. When you remove the foregrounds, it goes one at a time. If you accidentally remove one, don't worry, they go back into your inventory - just like the items, pets, backgrounds, etc! Just reequip!
* How do I add Dressup items?
Visit your pet's profile page and go to the Dress Up page. There you will find a selection of currently available items for Dress up! These will NOT show on the Main profile, they can be seen on the Dressed Up Profile. Be sure to always hit Save at the bottom!
* How do I add backgrounds and foregrounds?
Visit your inventory amd choose a background or foreground, then click "use on" and choose the pet. You get one background at a time, six foregrounds.
* What do potions do?
Potions can change pet level, flip gender, or apply other magical effects. Use them from your inventory by selecting the pet to apply it to.
* How do I remove or reuse an item?
On the pet profile page, click “Remove” next to the item. It will return to your inventory and can be used again.
* How do I buy items?
Click The Market from the Buy menu. There's several shops, and you'll likely find all you need there. Browse a shop and click “Buy” under the item. You’ll need enough currency to purchase whatever the item is, of course, or you will get an error. Remember you will get SB added to your account with boosting pets, playing the Quests, or by listing and selling pets in the Pet Market - also found under buy.
* Where are special items sold?
Each shop sells different categories of items. For example, bases are in pet-specific shops, and potions are in the Potion shop.
* Can I sell my pets to others?
Yes. You can list your pets for sale in the Pet Market and other users can buy them using the site currency. Go to Sell Pets in your Pets tab, to list the pets you wish to sell and the price you wish to ask for them. Be sure to hit apply to save the selections!
* What's a fair price for a Gen One, or a Gen 2 or lower?
Right now, Gen One Greaters sell in the Adopt Shop for 1000 SB each. Lessers sell for 100 SB, far less expensive! But remember these are bare bones pets, no beautiful bases or markings yet. They're called 'Starter Pets'. Gen 2 and lower would sell in the Pet Market for 25 to 1000 or more, depending on the look and pedigree, along with other factors, of that pet. Striking appearances count! Breeding for that, and remember genetics play a role for markings, too. If you create an amazing custom Gen One, you may be able to ask a high price for it. The economy on Pet Pals is getting started and you'll see as time goes along, what the going rate is!
* What are the different names for Gen Ones Customs and how are they ranked?
A 2 Marking Gen One is called a Grand Custom, a 3 Marking Gen One is called a Deluxe Custom, a 4 Marking is an Ultra and a 5 Marking is the highest ranked of all, a Mega Custom! And only Gen One pets may be customized.
* How does breeding work?
If you own two pets and both are level 3 and of the same type, you can breed them to create a new pet with combined traits.
The young are presented as the offspring of that particular type.
Like breeds to like only, otherwise our breeding system won't function properly - and you may wind up with a super funky looking pet - and not in a fun way! And the offspring will be of a type of one of the parents OR a merge of both.
Breeding Age Rule:
In Pet Pals, 1 real week = 1 pet year.
Pets can breed only while they are under 20 years old.
That means they must be under 20 real weeks old — about 140 days, or just under 5 months.
* How do I add friends?
Go to another user’s profile and click “Add Friend.” They must accept the request before you're connected.
* What are user groups?
Admins show stars next to their names, and have special powers like posting news and managing users. Most members are regular users with standard access.
* How do I change my avatar or nickname?
Go to your profile page. There are options to upload a new avatar or edit your nickname there.
* What are themes and how do I change mine?
Themes let you personalize how your profile looks. Choose one from the profile settings, or upload your own background if allowed. There's three default themes, but you can customize with html if you wish! Nothing above PG rated content.
* How can I view another user’s pets?
Visit their profile and scroll down to see all pets they own, including links to each pet’s profile page.
